Although RetailMeNot had taken great care to evolve other aspects of its offering, its subscription program had not been updated in over a decade. Impersonal and cluttered, it was failing to connect with customers.
A series of iterative rapid prototypes provided content for several rounds of in-home contextual inquiries conducted with current and potential customers. Research protocols were written to learn exactly what was and was not working, and to pinpoint the formula for concise, effective deal alert content.
